Langlitz, Color, and Aging.....Customize

Like the Peacock and the Mandrill, colors are a way of warning off predators. When you wear bright colors your not just saying look at me..I'm beautiful, you are also saying "Look at me...I might kick your ass!!". In the world of custom jackets this is also true, like a peacock this beautiful Langlitz custom Cascade jacket is just stunning and would have been worn to protect and attract attention, and like the Mandrill, the Chimayo jacket didn't just say I'm cool..it said I'm so tough that you might think I'm freaky but if you say anything...I will wipe the floor with you! Thus manhood and customization go hand in hand!

  1. Do you have any little Chimayo's? I've been looking for one in my size for a very long time! Hoping I might come across one in the wild west next month...

  2. If I were looking for a really nice chimayo, I would buy one of the 40s long coats on ebay for 90 bucks and have it cut down with a beat up horsehide and for 150 in tailoring costs make my own super orignal lookng 1940s custom one!

  3. I guess that's a no then! I like your can-do enterprise with the customizing idea though. Still, hard to find one 34" or smaller. I'm looking. Actually, a friend of mine has a perfect little ladies sized one, and she had no idea what she even had until I stopped her on the street "IS THAT A CHIMAYO?????" She had just found it in her mom's closet (who bought it in the 70's, must have been second hand because it has a 40's label inside) and brought it back to Brooklyn. Tre jealous.

  4. I wish I could help, but the reality is I've had 6 chimayo pieces in 16 years...the odds of a size 34 appearing are well...slim, lol. You have the fever for the best of the best which means you desire that which can only be had with lots and lots of money or lots of luck!

  5. I was just doing some research on Chimayo jackets and found this site. If anyone is still looking for a smaller, cropped Chimayo: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27427648

  6. Wow . . . that blue and white Langlitz might be my old one, built in '82 and passed along many years ago, to a girlfriend. I still own the matching pants with lace-up "Bonneville" belt. And they still fit! Whether it's my old jacket or not, it was good to see it. Thanks!

  7. Jim if that is your jacket it shows up in Rin Tanaka's first book on vintage motorcycle jackets, lol. Its a sweet jacket but I seem to recall that the pants were with it...what a long road this stuff travels to get to collectors!
